THis was the one last night, 12/28, that upon restarting proceeded with what looked like ( as I recall) a white circle showing progress over a black/grey background. It was a full upgrade of some sort. That was my impression, and part of it was a cummulative upgrade of something, as well.I upgraded on this desktop, to Windows 10 pro roughly 2 months ago, I had to as I got a new ssd.Is this prior session issue a known proiblem with certain builds?Btw, no if you had read my entire post, you would have realized that it my situaiton was not like Ricks, but that all my tabs were gone except often, 1 tab, which is a 'start' tab, or sometimes a couple, but never the original 20 or so I had before.Ironically, the only browser that remembers consistentlythxleebo.

LOL I could care LESS about your 'gold star'. One last thing, I wasn't disrespectful with you at all ( your gold star isn't relevant, unless you actually help someone first) when I said:'I looked, and I see no reply from you here on this page, that would make me think you have any clue how to help me, or anyone else experiencing a similar issue.

As you are aware, you can trigger Microsoft Edge indirectly from the command line (or a batch file) by using the microsoft-edge: protocol handler. Unfortunately, this approach doesn't enable you to open up an arbitrary number of windows. The Microsoft Edge team built a small utility to assist, and presently. MicrosoftEdgeLauncher.exe MicrosoftEdgeLauncher.exe just tested this, and it opened two individual windows for me. There does appear to be an issue where the second window doesn't navigate to the URL; remaining open with the New Tab Page.
I think i figure out what was going on (I.E. What I did to mess this up). I use a Raspberry Pi as a DNS/DHCP server. That works fine.

The mistake I made was adding a add blocker called Pi-Hole to the Pi. I removed the add blocker and all is back tonormal on this system.Prior to removing the add blocker I created a VM and upon first logon Edge opened with MSN as the homepage. For whatever reason, this cause me to realize that while I have 2 other Windows 10 systems, neither of which were having this issue, both of thosewere running over Wifi and not an Ethernet connection like the system in question. I guess maybe NIC behavior is different on boot for Wifi vs Ethernet. Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate everyone taking time out to help me.

Thanks for the responses. No, I did not see the ' Would you like to see' type message at the top of the left of the lock screen.I tried using Autoruns but it appears as though autoruns does not check for Universal apps like Edge or even Calculator. Edge is now opening multiple times - not just multiple tabs butmultiple instances. When I go to close Edge, I now hit the upper red X multiple times to close one instance then close again and again or have to go to task manager to close the many instances that are open. Gettingover 25 instances open at once with one opening click.More recent, I need to shut down and re-start PC to close Edge, as so many Edge instances are open and it would take for ever using Task Manager to close each one.
Checked for viruses (Windows Defender and others) and there appears none, however noticeda Microsoft Bing Service added to the start menu (disabling did nothing). Very concerned on Edge security with so many instances open.
PC has 16 gig and it is taking over 50% - Thanks. I am having the same problem. Once I open Edge, I can watch my computer resources slowly get used up in task manager as more and more instances of Edge open. My computer's used memory goes from 21-22% to 40-50% in a few minutes, the CPU goes from 0-50%at same time. Once I close Edge, the numbers slowly go back down to normal.I am not a tech person. I just expect this stuff to work. Your directions to fix this made my head hurt.
There is no way I could do all that stuff even if others said it worked. Since it obviously doesn't work, I won't worry about it.Microsoft needs to fix this mess. As in 'FIX' as opposed to offering a long long long list of things for me to do.
